This position is in the Public Health Laboratory's Newborn Screening program area located at 8231 Parklane Rd, Columbia, SC 29203.
Responsibilities:
State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in a related medical or scientific discipline; or an associate degree or equivalent training in a related medical, scientific or technical discipline and journey-level work experience in a related field.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Agency Additional Requirements: A bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or an associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution. Must be able to work rotating Saturdays and holidays.

A Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) degree with American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification, and at least one (1) year of clinical laboratory experience; or a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) degree with ASCP certification and at least one (1) year of clinical laboratory experience.
DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
