Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist II (S) to perform high‑complexity newborn screening across the state. You will work in the Fluoroimmunoassay and Hemoglobinopathy Laboratory, handling all phases of testing from pre-analytical to post-analytical under SOPs and QA protocols.

Responsibilities include operating HPLC, IEF platforms, FIA and EIA systems, maintaining instruments, and using LIMS to report results.

Qualifications

• Experience performing high-complexity newborn screening using HPLC, IEF, FIA, and EIA methods.
• Proficiency operating semi-automated and automated lab instrumentation with routine maintenance.
• Experience using LIMS to record and report patient test results with data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Perform newborn screening assays for hemoglobinopathies, CF, CAH, and other disorders.
• Conduct all phases of testing and verify results per SOPs.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and troubleshoot issues.
• Use LIMS to enter, retrieve, validate, and report results.
• Follow quality controls and document procedures to ensure valid outcomes.
