Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a New York Associate Attorney to support wage-and-hour, class, and representative litigation against regional, national, and Fortune 500 companies. You will conduct legal research, draft pleadings and motions, assist with deposition preparation, and appear at hearings under the guidance of senior attorneys.

The ideal candidate is a licensed New York attorney with 1–3 years of civil litigation experience, including discovery, oral advocacy, and deposition practice.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice law in New York.
• 1–3 years of civil litigation experience, including discovery, oral advocacy, and court appearances.
• Prior exposure to class actions, complex litigation, and wage-and-hour matters is a plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

Description

The Associate Attorney will support and assist in the representation of clients in state and federal plaintiff's-side wage-and-hour, class, and representative action litigation against regional, national, and Fortune 500 companies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting legal research; drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses; assisting with deposition preparation and attendance; preparing for and appearing at court hearings; and communicating with clients under the guidance of senior attorneys. Our caseload is growing and the ideal candidate for this position is a licensed attorney who is organized, professional, eager to learn, and committed to achieving strong outcomes for our clients.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be either (a) licensed to practice law in New York (b) already licensed in another U.S. jurisdiction and pending admission to the New York Bar.
• The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in New York and have 1-3 years of experience in civil litigation, including experience with discovery in the civil litigation context, oral advocacy and appearing in Court, motion practice and taking/defending depositions.
• Prior experience with class actions, complex litigation, and wage and hour litigation is a plus.
• Candidates must be able to travel on occasion.
