Job description

At Academy Sports + Outdoors, our Purpose is to make it easier for everyone to enjoy more sports and outdoors. The Logistics Manager position is responsible for the overall management and execution of operational excellence for the entire store, with specific focus on supervising and managing team members in store Logistics, including Merchandising, Logistics, and Receiving. It involves directing and coordinating activities through subordinate team leads and other employees, and is a leadership role aimed at driving store performance, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

Job Description:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

Work Experience:

  • At least three years of relevant work experience required.
  • Proven success in leading departments of up to 40 people to achieve operational excellence and sales targets.

Other Requirements:

  • Must meet federal and state requirements for firearm transactions.
  • Must qualify for and maintain FOID card (Illinois only).

Skills:

  • Exceptional supervisory and management skills; ability to coach and lead by example.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen, understanding of market and competition, and focus on profitability.
  • Ability to analyze business information and interpret regulations.

  • Proficiency in report writing, presentations, and basic mathematical computations.
  • Knowledge of inventory and order processing software, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage overall store operations and logistics.
  • Participate in personnel decisions, including hiring, training, and development.
  • Provide direction and oversight to Logistics and Merchandising teams.
  • Develop strategies to meet operational goals, including staffing and scheduling.
  • Manage workforce productivity and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with sales, safety, and security regulations.
  • Supervise execution of store assignments and participate in store walks with leadership.
  • Audit firearm sales for compliance and complete necessary documentation.
  • Complete Firearms Sales Certification and Academy Leadership University training.
  • Oversee team member lifecycle processes and enforce policies and safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements & Attendance:

  • Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and use hands frequently.
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

Full-time position.
