Job summary

Visual Connections, LLC in McLean, VA, seeks a Quality Assurance/Test Engineer (Automation and Manual) to join our team. You will perform both manual and automated testing for complex software in an Agile environment, ensuring quality across features and releases.

You will design test plans from requirements, build and maintain regression suites, support UAT, and collaborate with developers to drive issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field preferred, with 4+ years designing and executing automated and manual tests.
• Experience documenting and managing testing throughout the SDLC.
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, TFS, Git in CI/CD environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and automated QA testing for complex software in an Agile environment.
• Translate requirements into test plans, cases and scripts.
• Develop and maintain regression test suites and conduct regression testing.
• Support UAT and coordinate with end users.
• Identify defects and track them to resolution.
• Perform accessibility testing (Section 508) using Lighthouse.
• Maintain daily standups and status reports.
• Provide Test Summary Reports and release documentation.

Job description

Visual Connections, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance/Test Engineer (Automation and Manual) to join our team in McLean, VA. The ideal candidate will have experience performing testing, writing manual and automated test scripts, and working with Agile project teams to continuously release application software.

Perform both manual and automated Quality Assurance testing for complex software applications in an Agile environment, including functional, regression, acceptance, accessibility, and usability testing.

Analyze functional requirements and user stories, translating them into clear, well‑structured test plans, test cases, and test scripts.

Develop and maintain comprehensive regression test suites and conduct thorough regression testing to ensure application stability.

Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright with TypeScript, with hands‑on experience managing and deploying test cases in Azure DevOps.

Provide hands‑on support during User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including coordination with end users and facilitation of UAT activities.

Identify, document, and track defects using a formal defect tracking system; collaborate closely with development teams and stakeholders to drive issue resolution.

Perform Section 508 compliance and accessibility testing, including the use of tools such as Lighthouse.

Maintain effective daily communication with team members through standups, documentation, and regular status reporting.

Deliver frequent and detailed updates on testing progress through Test Summary Reports, test metrics, release documentation, and participation in customer and project meetings.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship or legal permanent resident status required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance upon employment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred, with at least 4 years of experience in designing, writing, and executing automated and manual tests for complex applications.
• Demonstrated experience managing comprehensive testing documentation throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure DevOps, TFS, Git, or other continuous integration and version control environments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes and methodologies.
• ISTQB or other software testing certifications.
• Foundational knowledge of AI‑enabled software, with the ability to validate system behavior, outputs, and reliability of integrated AI components.
