Insight Global is seeking a Staff NPI Engineer to support a leading client within the semiconductor equipment industry. This individual will work closely with engineering, operations, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to support the introduction of new electromechanical products into production.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electromechanical design and assembly, design for manufacturing, process development, root-cause analysis, and new product introduction. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can identify manufacturability concerns, resolve technical issues, and transition products from development into stable production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with design, development, engineering, and operations teams to develop manufacturable and cost-effective new products.
- Evaluate new product concepts for design for manufacturability, design for assembly, and manufacturing cost.
- Develop detailed manufacturing, assembly, and test work instructions for electromechanical assemblies.
- Identify and resolve design, process, tooling, and assembly issues.
- Troubleshoot mechanical subsystems and components and perform root-cause failure analysis.
- Identify manufacturability concerns and collaborate with design teams to develop effective solutions.
- Support the development and improvement of supplier and internal manufacturing processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on workflow optimization, cycle-time reduction, quality, and error reduction.
- Create technical documentation, including configuration records, process flow travelers, audit checklists, troubleshooting guides, test procedures, labor-hour reports, and build-yield data collection forms.
- Transition stable products to production and sustaining engineering teams while supporting safety, quality, reliability, cost, yield, lead-time, and cycle-time objectives.
- Perform hands-on assembly and testing of electromechanical modules in a cleanroom environment.
- Develop efficient build sequences that support safe, productive, and high-quality manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical support to internal teams, customers, and suppliers regarding manufacturing and testing issues.
- Prepare and present weekly progress reports for assigned projects and deliverables.
- Travel approximately 10% as needed to support customers, suppliers, or manufacturing operations.
Qualifications:
- 7–10 years of experience in electromechanical design, assembly, manufacturing, or testing.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of electromechanical design, mechanical assembly processes, and design for manufacturing.
- Experience supporting new product introduction and transitioning products from development into production.
- Proficiency with mechanical CAD software; experience with Siemens NX is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with materials failure analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
- Experience troubleshooting technical, mechanical, process, and tooling issues.
- Ability to develop manufacturing work instructions and other technical process documentation.
- Strong understanding of manufacturability principles and their application during product design.
- Experience working with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as photo-editing software.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and independently develop solutions to technical problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical information for different audiences.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills with experience working across global, cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with component-part manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of product costing, job-costing applications, or manufacturing cost analysis.
- Experience working in a cleanroom or semiconductor equipment manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting suppliers and internal manufacturing teams through process development and continuous improvement activities.
Compensation:
$60/hr to $80/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
