SUMMARY:

The New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer is responsible for carrying additively manufactured aerospace and defense components from design release through qualification and into rate production. This hybrid role bridges design, manufacturing, test, and quality, and owns the technical deliverables required to certify flight-critical hardware. The NPI Engineer works directly with program management, design and manufacturing engineering, quality, customers, and third-party test laboratories, and serves as Sintavia’s on-site technical representative during qualification testing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, you will own the technical path from design release to production and certification for new products across Sintavia’s aerospace and defense programs.

  • Evaluate customer models, drawings, specifications, and statements of work to assess manufacturability, testability, and certification requirements during contract review
  • Provide design-for-additive-manufacturing (DfAM) and design-for-test feedback to design engineering; manipulate and modify CAD models in Siemens NX as required
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including routers, work instructions, inspection plans, and process flow diagrams in collaboration with manufacturing and quality engineering
  • Design or specify tools and fixtures for build, post-processing, inspection, and test
  • Interpret dimensional inspection results (CMM, CT, X-ray, structured light scanning) and metallurgical and mechanical test results to determine part conformance and drive corrective action
  • Support the transition of components from development into rate production, including process FMEA, control plans, and process capability studies
Test & Qualification:
  • Develop qualification and acceptance test plans, procedures, and reports in accordance with customer requirements and applicable standards
  • Serve as Sintavia’s on-site technical representative at third-party qualification test laboratories; witness testing, resolve anomalies in real time, and coordinate with customer and laboratory personnel
  • Support internal testing, including flow, pressure, leak, and thermal performance testing; perform data reduction, analysis, and reporting
  • Lead or support root cause and corrective action investigations for test failures and nonconformances
  • Identify product and process improvements to increase test yield and reduce cost
  • Author, maintain, and deliver the SDRL/CDRL documentation required to certify aerospace-grade components, including:
  • Advanced Product Quality Plan (APQP), including verification requirements and First Article Inspection (FAI)
  • Critical Safety Items (CSI) Management Plan
