Job summary

Honda is seeking a New Model Cost Project Lead to direct cost-related projects for new models, including BEV, from concept through execution. You will manage procurement teams, ensure BOM maturation, and report cost performance to HDMA and ADC management.

The role requires a strong background in finance, accounting, or purchasing with 8+ years of relevant experience, and experience with BOM, GML, and GSR policies. Hybrid work with travel may be required.

Job Purpose

The New Model Cost Project Lead is responsible leading and managing new model project plans that achieve A00 targets. Lead and manage the procurement purchasing team in all aspects of a new model project (including BEV) from start to finish, providing technical expertise. Design, identify, communicate, and implement a plan for completing the NM project on time and achieving cost and investment targets, including BOM maturation, ML communication across HDMA, DB Cost Correlation, Cost Roll-up/Reporting to top mgmt.(both PSCC and ADC) . Monitor progress and performance against the project plan versus actual.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead full model change project management (BEV, etc)
• Recognize problems/issues with new model development
• Communicates effectively with other groups to establish/report accurate new model costs
• Lead systems associates that support the department.
• Prepare New Model cost presentations that explains cost/investment to ADC management
• Review and establish cost-based part structures for New Models while confirming cost change reasons by part for summarization and reporting.

Qualifications, Experience, And Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree (Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or Purchasing) preferred or equivalent related experience

Minimum Experience

• 8+ years of relevant experience depending upon education

Other Job-Specific Skills

• Understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM), the GML system, and understanding of the Global Policy manual for the GSR system

Decisions Expected

• Negotiate the timing of activities in the project with D&E side leaders to meet cost and investment targets.
• Manage the development of required project budgets and manage plan vs actual through evaluation process
• Support team in negotiations on complex issues impacting the development targets
• Develop efficient Project Status reports with purchasing team and present to Dept, Division and HDMA Mgt.
• Lead effective negotiations with D & E to support resolution of complex issues impacting cost and investment.

Working Conditions

• International and Domestic travel (as required) to support unit cost roll-up and attend evaluations.
• OT as required during weekdays and weekends to support model activities.
• Hybrid Work Environment (80% in Office / 20% Hybrid)
