Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Works collaboratively with the Radiology/Medical Imaging/Diagnostic Center management team, hospital physicians, staff, and outside agencies to provide state-of-the-art imaging services in the community. Responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of all Imaging departments. Plans, directs, and manages cost-effective patient care to ensure compliance with standards, policies, procedures, and budgets. Ensures high-quality patient care through appropriate staffing, supplies, and equipment in accordance with accreditation and licensing requirements. Responsible for the development, hiring, and evaluation of assigned staff. Accountable for operational and revenue budget development and analysis for all Imaging departments. Collaborates with the Director to develop short- and long-term capital budgets for Radiology departments.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan and manage the effective delivery of departmental services in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards, including development and maintenance of policies, procedures, quality control, and records.
  2. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  3. Recruit, hire, evaluate, and discipline staff; approve hiring and discharge recommendations.
  4. Assist in resolving complex employee relations issues.
  5. Respond to incident reports and patient complaints with corrective actions.
  6. Develop and monitor operating budgets; analyze variances and recommend adjustments.
  7. Evaluate and purchase equipment and supplies; recommend capital expenditures.
  8. Implement new imaging modalities across the system.
  9. Develop marketing strategies for clinical areas.
  10. Oversee clinical, technical, and clerical activities across imaging modalities and sites.
  11. Manage administrative functions like supply ordering, scheduling, and overtime.
  12. Maintain equipment and work areas; arrange for repairs.
  13. Understand department charges, charge sets, and revenue processes, including charge capture and reconciliation.
  14. Proficiently use diagnostic IT systems to access and generate reports.
  15. Review operational metrics and implement course corrections as needed.
  16. Maintain knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies to ensure compliance and ethical conduct.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Current certification in at least one Radiology Technology discipline; multiple certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of Radiology experience and 2 years of leadership experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

Relevant radiology certifications and licensure as applicable.

ABILITIES/SKILLS:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analytical skills for reporting, policy development, and personnel evaluation.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, and lift as specified.
  • Visual and perceptual skills for accurate diagnosis and safety.
