Job summary

POLITICO invites college students and recent graduates to join its Spring 2027 Reporting Internship in New Jersey. You will cover state legislation, lawmakers, and the governor from Trenton, reporting for both in-state and national audiences.

You'll participate in research, reporting, writing and aggregation, help produce newsletters, and collaborate with a dynamic team to develop enterprise stories while meeting deadlines in a hybrid, 40-hour-per-week schedule (or 20 hours for part-time).

Qualifications

• Demonstrated interest in New Jersey politics and policy.
• Strong reporting and writing skills.
• Excellent news judgment.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Entrepreneurial mindset.
• Professional newsroom experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cover legislation, lawmakers, the governor, state agencies and New Jersey politics.
• Contribute to story creation, newsletters and production, including research, reporting, writing and aggregating.
• Report for in-state and national audiences as part of a dynamic team.
