The HCA Nurse Residency Program is a year-long program designed to provide hands-on experience, helping establish clinical and critical thinking skills. As a Resident I Graduate Nurse, you will be supported by nurse educators, experienced nurses, and fellow residents, fostering learning, clinical application, and socialization, guiding you from student nurse to registered nurse.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The HCA Nurse Residency Program at Centerpoint Medical Center provides tools for success in today’s hospital environment. This paid program includes:

• Advanced clinical training in a specialty area.
• Monthly educational sessions.
• Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor.
• Skills measurement through hands-on simulations.
• Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders.
• Collaborative evidence-based practice projects.

The RN Resident delivers high-quality, patient-centered care, assessing patient conditions, performing procedures, administering medications, and educating patients and families. The role emphasizes advocacy and compassionate care, following established nursing models.

What will you do in this role:

• Assess patient condition during admission and shifts, reporting changes.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and documentation as ordered.
• Administer medications, monitor responses, and notify providers of issues.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs.
• Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and follow-up.

Qualifications needed:

• BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS certification within 1 year of employment.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• RN license or Graduate Nurse status in the state.
• No prior experience required.
• Some travel for training may be needed.
