Position Summary

Medical Laboratory Scientists (or Medical Technologists) perform testing on patient samples to detect diseases, examining various body fluids, tissues, and cells. They report results to physicians and may consult on findings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and interpret routine and complex lab tests.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment.
  • Ensure quality control and safety protocols.
  • Assist with inventory and scheduling.
  • Conduct competency assessments.
  • Potentially develop new testing methods based on experience.
Qualifications
  • MLS or MLT certification or eligibility (preferably ASCP).
  • Bachelor's (MLS) or Associate's (MLT) degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related fields from a CLIA-approved program.
  • Completion of an externship program.
