Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus is seeking an RN Resident for the G111 Leukemia unit. You will deliver bedside care, participate in a year‑long Nurse Residency, and collaborate with a team that supports qualification in advanced therapies. This role involves direct patient contact and meticulous charting in the EHR.

The program offers hands‑on training, coaching, and career development within a world‑class hospital, with rotating day and night shifts and weekend/holiday rotation expectations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
  • Current state RN licensure.
  • BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
  • ACLS certification required on hire or within first year in CC areas.
  • New grad or RN with <1 year experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with delivering direct nursing care on the G111 Leukemia unit.
  • Participate in a residency core curriculum and receive coaching.
  • Document in patients’ medical records and adjust care as needed.

Our G111 Leukemia unit cares for patients undergoing therapy for a diagnosis of leukemia and other immunologic cancers. Our talented, specially trained G111 nurses assist with giving patients chemotherapy followed by intensive intravenous therapies, including IV antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, blood products and electrolyte replacements.

As an RN Resident on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care by interacting directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life‑saving treatment.

A caregiver in this position works rotating day/night shifts from 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
  • Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Document in patients’ medical records
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • *If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification or American Red Cross must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment
  • *ONS Chemo/Bio course completed within two years of hire if employed on units where chemo is administered.
  • New grad or less than one year RN work experience or if experience RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year current acute direct patient care RN experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50

Maximum hourly: $55.60
