Job description

Join the Cleveland Clinic team, where you will work alongside passionate caregivers and provide patient-first healthcare. The M80 Neuro Transitional Care is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Neurological Institute. Our neurology, neurosurgery, and pediatric neurology and neurosurgery programs are recognized as among the best in Ohio.

Caregivers in the M80 Neuro Neuro Transitional Care Unit provide care to patients suffering from conditions such as ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subdural hematomas, status epilepticus/seizures, brain tumors, neuromuscular disorders, and spinal injuries. An RN in this role should be familiar with intracranial pressure monitoring, seizure monitoring, lumbar punctures, and central/arterial line placement. Responsibilities include providing direct nursing care, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, administering medications and treatments, coordinating discharge plans, and monitoring and communicating patient conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care following policies and protocols, including implementing and monitoring care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions effectively.
  • Evaluate and update care plans to meet expected outcomes.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Follow physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate discharge planning.
  • Assess educational needs and provide teaching to patients and families.
  • Maintain professional growth through ongoing education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
Certifications
  • Current RN licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC, or ENPC as required by specific units.
Work Experience
  • Minimum one year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting or relevant specialty.
Physical Requirements
  • Full range of motion, ability to handle and lift patients, and work under stressful conditions.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Use of PPE as required.
