Job summary

Summerville Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, offers a New Grad RN Residency Program to ease the transition from student nurse to registered nurse. The year-long paid residency provides hands-on experience, clinical training, and mentoring by nurse educators and experienced staff.

The program emphasizes a supportive learning environment, with structured educational sessions, preceptorship, and opportunities to work on evidence-based projects while delivering patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• BLS and ACLS certifications required within designated timeframes.
• Nursing degree (ADN/BSN) or higher is required.
• RN license or Graduate Nurse eligibility in the state.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high quality, patient-centered care per department standards.
• Assess patient condition at admission and report changes during shifts.
• Perform procedures, document care, and monitor responses to medications.
• Provide teaching to patients and families about condition and plan.
• Collaborate with the care team and participate in evidence-based projects.

Education

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of employment

Other Certifications may be required during employment

Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State
