Job summary

UNC Medical Center is hiring new graduate registered nurses for the Newborn Critical Care Center in Chapel Hill, NC. The unit cares for high-need newborns and offers a residency program for new graduates.

Positions are full-time, 36 hours per week with night, day, and weekend rotations. NC RN license is required by start date; BLS certification is also required. Immediate eligibility not guaranteed; residency program for new grads is available.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
  • If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide competent clinical nursing care aligned with professional standards.
  • Coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.
  • Participate in education, evaluation, and planning to meet patient needs.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote continuity of care.
  • Demonstrate leadership in goal setting, collaboration, and safety.

Education

Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing (per timeline)
