Program Overview

The HCA Healthcare Residency Program at TriStar Centennial Medical Center is a year‑long paid program designed to give new graduates hands‑on experience and help them develop clinical and critical thinking skills. The program provides a series of learning experiences, including:

  • Advanced clinical training in a specialty area.
  • Monthly educational sessions.
  • Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor.
  • Measurement and evaluation of skills through hands‑on simulations.
  • Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders.
  • Collaboration on an evidence‑based practice project.

Role Description

The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in accordance with departmental requirements and scope of practice.

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient response, notify provider, and intervene as appropriate if an unintended response occurs.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests, anticipate patient needs, and resolve them proactively.
  • Teach patients, families, and caregivers about patient medical condition, treatment plan, medications, and follow‑up measures, translating complex terminology into clear language.
Qualifications
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within one year of employment.
  • Other certifications may be required during employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse in the state.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Some travel may be required for training.
