Job summary

UNC Health Johnston Health is seeking a Surgical Nurse to provide competent perioperative care in the operating room across adult and pediatric populations. You will report to the Nurse Manager/Director and coordinate nursing care using the nursing process in a fast-paced surgical setting.

The role requires completion of the AORN Perioperative 101 OR Residency, ongoing learning, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Graduation from school of professional nursing.
Successful completion of the AORN Perioperative 101 OR Residency Program.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

Education – complete AORN Perioperative 101 OR Residency program and pursue ongoing learning.
Evaluation of care – assess outcomes with the perioperative team.
Implementation – manage care for surgical patients with complex needs.
Leadership – support unit goals and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Patient assessment – prioritize surgical needs and provide advocacy.
Planning – coordinate activity with multidisciplinary teams.
Research – stay current with perioperative evidence-based practice.
