Applied Materials invites new graduates to join in Santa Clara as a Mechanical Engineer III (PhD) for the 2027 Summer Cohort. You will apply a deep physics and materials science background to design and optimize mechanical devices and tooling used in semiconductor fabrication.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex problems, oversee manufacturing and installation processes, and contribute to product life-cycle support and continuous improvement.

Qualifikationen

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field as minimum.
• Strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science is required.
• Familiarity with basic theories and concepts of mechanical engineering.

Aufgaben

• Design or modify basic mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, or drawings/specifications under direct supervision.
• Coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects; identify sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve basic technical issues.
• Perform and document engineering test reports; generate alpha/gamma documentation for product releases.
• Perform engineering analysis; troubleshoot a variety of mechanical problems of general difficulty under direct supervision.
• Apply engineering processes to resolve basic mechanical problems.
• Help to design, develop, and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing and associated processes.
• Enable the handling, assembly and/or disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle, as needed.
