Job summary

Shimmick's Pacific Northwest Division is seeking a Field Engineer to contribute to critical infrastructure projects in the Seattle area. Exact project locations will be determined, with opportunities across multiple sites in the greater Seattle area.

The role requires a Civil/Mechanical/Environmental Engineering or Construction Management background, with internship experience preferred. Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills are essential, along with proficiency in CAD tools

Overview

Join Shimmick's Pacific Northwest Division as a Field Engineer and play a key role in critical infrastructure projects in the Seattle area.Exact project location is to be determined, but opportunities exist at multiple sites in the greater Seattle area.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performing assignments that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria’s to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

  • Exercising judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

  • Preparing engineering related calculations and developing drawings and visual aids.

  • Assisting with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used.

  • Assisting with construction administration and documentation of deficiencies and deviations from plans.

  • Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.

  • Researching and compiling project information for reporting, marketing, and funding requests.

  • Creating and maintaining centralized files for project records (including digital).

  • Coordinating logistics and meetings for project managers.

  • Helping in the preparation of reports, including monthly development reports.

  • Assisting with community outreach duties as needed.

  • Attending neighborhood, community, and project meetings.

  • Undertaking tasks as may be assigned by project managers.

  • Having a clear understanding of the budget and assist in the creation of and adherence to project and development budgets.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering or Construction Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship experience in engineering or construction industry
  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders
  • Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills

Additional Information:

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

The salary range for this position is between $80,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year depending on experience and/or education.

Shimmick's comprehensive benefits plan includes medical, dental and vision coverage; as well as options to participate in an FSA or HSA. The Company also provides employer paid STD, LTD, basic life and AD&D, and an Employee Assistance Program. Additional voluntary benefit offerings include pet insurance, hospital indemnity, critical illness insurance, legal and identity theft protection.

These benefits are available to all employees working more than 20 hours per week. Employees working less than 20 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage as well as EAP services
