FSH Technologies is hiring an entry-level software engineer to work on public-sector software solutions. You will learn rapidly, pair with a senior engineer, and contribute to projects that directly impact government services.
You’ll work with Python, PostgreSQL, Unix, and React/TypeScript to build scalable backends and intuitive frontends. The role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and delivering customer value in a supportive team.
FSH Tech builds modern software that just works for the public sector. When we deliver, taxpayer dollars go further, agencies move faster, and millions of Americans get tangibly better service and quality of life.
Local governments, schools, libraries, and emergency services run on brittle software that was built decades ago. This results in wasted budgets, broken workflows, and bad outcomes for the public. We believe that the institutions closest to people’s daily lives deserve products as good as anything in the private sector. We’re building them.
We’re a small, high-agency team. The people who do their best work here are:
Relentlessly optimistic in creating a better world now
Driven to maximize societal impact
Brilliant and creative
Our ideal candidate is an expert in their tools. They’ve used their chosen tools to build software repeatedly, and they gain energy from understanding how the tools work. Our ideal candidate is obsessively curious, motivated by customer outcomes, and is a technical artist.
We use Python, Postgres, and Unix to build and deploy our backends and React.js with TypeScript to build our frontends. We maintain a set of internal tools to deterministically generate Python and Typescript. We obsess over how to build compounding advantages in tooling, software, and product.
FSH engineering will appeal to you if you’d like to work on a team that strives for simplicity in tech stack and approach, aggressively builds internal tools and platforms, has a deeply technical leader, only works on things that move the needle for the business, and doesn’t take itself too seriously.
We want to work with people who love to learn and do so quickly! Much of an engineer’s job involves learning by doing, and this is our pathway for those with less experience to do just that.
Our work balances the deeply technical with the fundamentally human; we switch from technical architecture to design critique to product construction quickly. You will be paired with a senior engineer who focuses on mentorship — they will help you set goals, increase the ambiguity, scope and ownership when you succeed, and pair with you often when you don’t.
There is no predefined destination for this role and we don’t believe in having others do work we wouldn’t do ourselves (e.g. this isn’t a cover for ‘you will simply respond to tickets’). We want to help you ship customer value and will continue to enable you to do so.
