Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse (RN) to join the 6300 Cardiothoracic Stepdown Unit. You will provide direct and indirect nursing care and support patients recovering from cardiothoracic procedures in a high-acuity environment.

The role offers a full-time schedule with rotating 12-hour shifts, opportunities for professional growth through the Clinical Ladder and ongoing education, and a collaborative team focused on safety, patient-centered care,

Qualifications

• RN licensure in North Carolina or compact license with NC required within 60 days.
• Current BLS certification; professional nursing certification preferred.
• Graduation from an accredited BSN/ADN or nursing diploma program.
• BSN-holders may pursue further education; non-BSN nurses should enroll within 2 years.
• Eligibility for promotion to CNII after residency criteria.

Responsibilities

• Provide and supervise direct and indirect nursing care using the nursing process.
• Deliver advanced and specialized care aligned with practice standards.
• Serve as a resource and role model to staff.
• Participate in departmental committees and quality initiatives.
• Maintain patient-centered environment emphasizing safety and respect.
