Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Washington state is seeking a Production Support Avionics Engineer - Level 2 to provide real-time engineering support on the production floor, transitioning development hardware into high-rate production for New Glenn. This hands-on role focuses on resolving manufacturing challenges and ramping up flight hardware with quality and reliability in mind.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical, Computer, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing, test, or design
  • Hands-on fabrication, assembly, and test of complex electronic assemblies (PCBA/LRU)
  • Familiarity with Class 2/3 PCB fabrication, assembly standards (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610) and DFX principles
  • Strong hands-on problem solving and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Ability to read schematics and PCB layouts to aid in troubleshooting

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for the production floor
  • Facilitate the transition of development hardware into production with ISC
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform root cause analysis on production test failures
  • Identify opportunities for design and process improvements to increase manufacturability, yield, and production rate

Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.Production Support Avionics Engineer - Level 2As part of a passionate and accomplished team, you will provide critical engineering support to transition our current avionics designs into rate production. This hands-on, fixed-term role is focused on resolving manufacturing challenges, improving build processes, and working directly with our production team to successfully ramp up the manufacturing of New Glenn's flight hardware. Your efforts will be essential in scaling our production capabilities while maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise and problem-solving skills to help us build the road to space. Passion for our mission and a desire to see designs become reality at scale is required!Responsibilities:Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for the production floor, addressing real-time questions and challenges related to avionics builds.Facilitate the transition of development hardware into production, working closely with the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) organization.Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform root cause analysis on production test failures, component issues, and assembly discrepancies.Identify opportunities for design and process improvements to increase manufacturability (DFM), yield, and production rate.Review and update work instructions, test procedures, and design documentation to reflect production realities and improvements.Support supplier quality and component engineering teams in resolving issues with incoming material.Help maintain hardware configuration and traceability through the production process to support quality audits.Qualifications:Minimum of a B.S. in Electrical, Computer, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.3+ years of experience in an electronics manufacturing, test, or design environment.Direct, hands-on experience with the fabrication, assembly, and test of complex electronic assemblies (PCBA/LRU).Familiarity with Class 2/3 PCB fabrication, assembly standards (e.g., J-STD-001, IPC-A-610), and DFX principles.A passion for hands-on problem solving and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to read schematics and PCB layouts to aid in troubleshooting.Desired:Experience in an aerospace or other high-reliability production environment.Experience with automated test equipment and developing test scripts (Python, LabVIEW, etc.).Experience working directly with suppliers and contract manufacturers.Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and manufacturing execution systems (MES).Base Pay Range for:WA applicants is $107,136.00 - $149,990.40Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
