Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and qualified English Language Arts (ELA) teacher to join our team in Salem, CT. This is a full-time, temporary position starting immediately and lasting through the end of the school year. The successful candidate will teach general education ELA to students in grades 6-8. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging ELA lessons to students in grades 6-8.
  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes literacy development and critical thinking.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to ensure a cohesive learning experience for all students.
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
  • Participate in school-wide meetings, professional development opportunities, and other school activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Education, English, or a related field.
  • VALID CT TEACHING CERT in English Language Arts (Grades 6-8).
  • Previous experience teaching ELA at the middle school level preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners, including those with special needs.
  • Familiarity with Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and parents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A passion for teaching and helping students grow as readers, writers, and critical thinkers.
Additional Information
  • This is an onsite, full-time position for the remainder of the school year.
  • Hours are approximately 8:15 AM to 3:20 PM on school days.
  • Immediate start date required.

Compensation is anywhere from $38 - $45 per hour, depending on experience.
