Job summary

The team plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, process stability, yield improvement, and manufacturing output while supporting Micron's long-term global growth strategy in semiconductor manufacturing.

The ID1 High Volume Manufacturing Shift Process Engineer is responsible for optimizing semiconductor manufacturing processes, improving product quality, increasing equipment and process efficiency, and supporting area throughput goals.

This position partners closely with equipment engineers, shift operations teams, process owners, and cross-functional stakeholders to rapidly resolve issues, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure manufacturing objectives are achieved safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

Monitor and optimize manufacturing processes to improve yield, quality, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness while supporting area KPIs and wafer output goals. Analyze process performance using SPC, FDC, DOE, and other engineering methodologies to identify trends, resolve excursions, and drive systematic problem solving. Lead issue resolution activities by identifying, escalating, and addressing process, tool, defect, yield, and output-related concerns in a timely manner. Develop, update, and maintain operational procedures, assessor checklists, documentation, and training materials to support standardized execution and compliance. Utilize AI-enabled analytics tools, data visualization platforms, and engineering software to identify process improvement opportunities and support data-driven decision‑making.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Ability to work any assigned shift and rotate schedules as business needs require.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proficiency with one or more programming, scripting, analytics, or visualization tools such as Python, Java, MATLAB, Tableau, or Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience analyzing complex manufacturing or engineering data and making process-related decisions based on technical findings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple functional teams.
  • Experience with data collection systems, data warehousing, data cleansing, and database querying.
  • Hands‑on experience applying data analytics techniques to support engineering, manufacturing, or operational improvements.
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes, processing equipment, and supporting systems.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted tools, Artificial Intelligence technologies, or Generative AI solutions to improve productivity, data analysis, reporting, or operational efficiency.
