Job description

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

The Realtime Defect Analysis (RDA) and Metrology organization plays a critical role in enabling advanced semiconductor manufacturing through defect detection, process monitoring, quality control, and continuous improvement. The team partners closely with global manufacturing sites, process integration, process development, yield engineering, data science, and other stakeholders to drive defect reduction, prevent excursions, and ensure alignment with global quality standards.

As an ID1 RDA Quality Engineer, you will develop and implement quality systems, monitoring strategies, and best-known methods (BKMs) that support defect detection and metrology operations. This role offers the opportunity to learn next-generation defect inspection technologies, drive quality improvements through data analysis, support excursion mitigation activities, and collaborate with global partners to transfer technology into high-volume manufacturing (HVM). Your contributions will directly influence manufacturing quality, operational efficiency, and yield performance across Micron's global network.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems, standards, and BKMs for the RDA and Metrology organization.
  • Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics, baseline health indicators, SPC compliance, and wafer-at-risk events to identify trends and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead or support excursion mitigation activities, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), sampling strategy development, and audit execution, including documentation of findings and improvement recommendations.
  • Collaborate with global manufacturing sites, process integration, process development, yield analysis, and data science teams to align quality methodologies and transfer technology to HVM.
  • Utilize AI-enabled tools and data analytics to improve process monitoring, quality assessment, problem solving, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision making.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing, process, quality, or engineering data to identify trends and drive process improvements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and quality management principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to cross-functional teams.
  • Experience using data analysis tools, reporting systems, or AI-enabled technologies to support decision making and continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, defect inspection, metrology, yield engineering, or quality engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, sampling methodologies, auditing practices, and excursion management processes.
  • Experience collaborating with global or cross-site teams to implement process improvements and technology transfers.
  • Proficiency with advanced data analytics, visualization tools, and AI-supported solutions for operational performance monitoring and quality improvement.
AI & Digital Capability
  • Utilize AI-enabled tools and data analytics to improve process monitoring, quality assessment, problem solving, and operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrate the ability to leverage AI technologies to support data-driven decision making, continuous improvement initiatives, and manufacturing quality outcomes.
  • Apply AI-assisted analytical approaches to identify trends, evaluate process performance, and support proactive risk mitigation strategies.
