Job description

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

The Technology Development Operations team enables successful process node development by optimizing manufacturing execution, accelerating learning cycles, and supporting breakthrough delivery within Micron's semiconductor fabrication environment. The team uses data analytics, automation, operational planning, and AI-enabled tools to improve manufacturing performance, drive operational efficiency, and support next-generation technology development.

As a Technology Development Operations Engineer, you will drive data-informed manufacturing execution and operational performance across technology development programs. You will partner with engineering, manufacturing, industrial engineering, and operations teams to optimize work-in-progress (WIP) flow, improve cycle times, support starts planning, manage operational risks, and develop analytics and automation solutions that accelerate technology development achievements.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and improve manufacturing performance metrics including WIP, cycle time, throughput, inventory positioning, part turns, and operational constraints to support technology development achievements.
  • Analyze manufacturing data, identify root causes of process and operational issues, and develop recommendations that improve line performance, learning cycles, and execution efficiency.
  • Develop analytics, dashboards, forecasting models, and automation solutions to improve visibility, planning accuracy, operational decision-making, and reporting.
  • Support starts planning, inventory management, capacity analysis, risk assessment, and project execution activities to ensure alignment with program objectives and achievement commitments.
  • Collaborate across Technology Development, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Equipment, Process Engineering, suppliers, and customers to resolve issues, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, research projects, co-ops, academic projects, or professional experience in manufacturing, operations, industrial engineering, supply chain, process improvement, analytics, or related fields.
  • Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Understanding of manufacturing operations including scheduling, inventory management, balancing production demands, workflow optimization, and operational performance metrics.
  • Experience with data analysis, statistics, forecasting, root-cause analysis, problem-solving methodologies, and process improvement techniques.
  • Proficiency with analytical and visualization tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, or similar platforms.
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools and technologies such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, Claude, AI-assisted analytics tools, or similar platforms to improve productivity and decision-making.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, time-management, and project execution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across multi-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within semiconductor manufacturing, fabrication operations, technology development, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of WIP management, cycle time reduction, inventory optimization, learning-cycle acceleration, and milestone-driven manufacturing execution.
  • Experience designing experiments, conducting statistical analysis, predictive modeling, forecasting, or scenario planning.
  • Experience developing dashboards, automation solutions, workflow improvements, or operational analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with UiPath, Power Automate, AI-enabled automation platforms, or other digital transformation technologies.
  • Experience preparing executive-level reports, cases, operational reviews, and data-driven recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify operational risks, evaluate trade-offs, and implement effective solutions in complex environments.
  • Strong interest in applying AI, automation, and digital technologies to improve manufacturing performance and operational excellence.
