New Business Sales Consultant - Work from Home

Scholastic Book Fairs are in-person experiences that empower kids to discover books for themselves. Taking place in schools and aligned with Scholastic’s mission to use the power of books for the betterment of all kids, Fairs bring communities together.

Annually, Scholastic Book Fairs create 110,000 pop-up shops, raise over $200 million for schools, and aim to inspire a love for reading. We are committed to making every participant feel seen, respected, and welcomed.

We are seeking New Business Sales Representatives to secure new opportunities and grow the Book Fair business. These full-time roles offer benefits including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, a 50% discount on Scholastic merchandise, 401k with match, and potential summer off. Compensation includes base pay plus seasonal and annual incentives.

Job Overview

Your role will involve prospecting, building relationships with schools, and expanding the reach of Scholastic Book Fairs to foster a love for reading and support fundraising efforts.

Primary Objectives
  • Prospecting: Identify potential school and district partners; initiate outreach via calls, emails, and social media to decision-makers.
  • Lead Qualifications: Qualify prospects by understanding their needs and interests; set appointments and pass qualified leads to Account Managers.
  • Relationship Building: Develop rapport with educators and administrators, emphasizing the value of Scholastic Reading Events.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate records in CRM; track progress toward goals.
  • Collaboration and Strategy: Work with the sales team to improve outreach strategies; stay informed about industry trends and customer preferences.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Achieve goals by booking events within your territory; identify opportunities through grants, non-profit, and corporate channels.
  • Coordinate revenue-building activities with event partners.
  • Maintain sales records and ensure communication across departments.
  • Prioritize tasks, recognize issues, and adapt to meet objectives.
  • Support customer satisfaction through effective sales and service methods.
Customer Focus
  • Build relationships by understanding and meeting customer needs.
  • Address concerns promptly and seek feedback to improve service.
  • Deliver value and ensure exceptional customer experiences.
  • Listen carefully to customers and demonstrate genuine interest.
Teamwork
  • Partner with Operations, sharing updated customer information.
  • Contribute to team goals and suggest procedural improvements.
  • Foster collaboration internally and externally through effective communication.

  • Support our mission and values.

  • Adapt to shifting priorities and maintain confidentiality.
  • Attend events and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • At least three years of successful sales experience, especially in retail or territory sales.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, CRM, and sales software.
  • Familiarity with children’s literature and school activities preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of marketing and merchandising strategies.
