Allianz Commercial seeks a New Business Construction Underwriter to join our expert-led team. The role is based in Southampton or Chelmsford and operates on a hybrid model with 2–3 days in the office, plus broker meetings.

Salary is circa £50,000 per year and will reflect experience and location. You will help deliver profitable growth while supporting regional targets and cross-functional collaboration.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Claims, Operations, and Risk teams.
• Represent Allianz positively in the market, attending broker and client meetings.

Role Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our expert-led Allianz Commercial team as a New Business Construction Underwriter, playing a key role in delivering profitable growth.

You will support the development of a world-class, multi-niche Insurance & Engineering offering, contributing to ambitious regional growth targets.

Location: This role is based in either our Southampton or Chelmsford offices, please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that you attend the office 2-3 days per week, as well as meeting with brokers.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £50,000 per year.
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

• Underwrite construction risks across new business to meet growth and profitability targets


• Assess and price risk in line with Allianz appetite and underwriting strategy


• Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships through regular engagement


• Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure sustainable business
