Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is recruiting for a Surgical Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse to support neurosurgery services at our Vernon site. The role combines clinic duties with 1st assist in the operating room for cranial and spine procedures.

We offer growth opportunities within a collaborative team of experienced neurosurgery professionals, with considerations for DBS and HIFU programs as part of patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Master’s program preferred.
• Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut.
• Certification or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
• RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assist) certification required for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
• Preferred >1-year experience as a Surgical Physician Assistant in a Neurosurgery or an Orthopedic setting; 1st Assist in OR preferred.

Responsibilities

• 1:1 training with neurosurgeons (unique opportunity).
• Growth and development through the DBS program including HIFU treatment for movement disorders.
• Clinic and OR time (1st Assist) for cranial and spine procedures.
• Work with a team of advanced practitioners with Neurosurgery experience.
• Established practice and staff who take time with their patients.

Advanced Providers Role Scope

We have a growth opportunity for a Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice RN (APRN) who will enjoy:

• Unique, 1:1 training with neurosurgeons
• Growth and development- Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) program including the use of High Intensity Focus Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment for movement disorders
• Both clinic and OR time (1st Assist) for cranial and spine procedures
• Working with a team of advanced practitioners with an abundance of Neurosurgery experience
• Established practice and staff who take time with their patients

Shift-FullTimefour 10-hour shifts, M-F. Hours may vary dependent upon case load. No call requirements, no weekends.
