Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is actively seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice RN (APRN) to join a neurosurgery-focused team. The role offers clinic and OR time as a 1st Assistant, with training alongside neurosurgeons and opportunities within an established DBS and HIFU program.

Ideal candidates hold an accredited PA/APRN Master’s, CT licensure eligibility, and RNFA certification, with 1+ year neurosurgery or orthopedic first-assist experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Master’s program preferred.
• Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant / APRN in Connecticut.
• Certification or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
• RNFA certification required for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
• >1 year experience as a Surgical Physician Assistant in Neurosurgery or Orthopedic setting; 1st Assist in OR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical first-assist support for neurosurgery procedures.
• Clinic and OR time as 1st Assistant for cranial and spine cases.
• Collaborate with neurosurgery team and advanced practitioners.
• Support DBS program and High Intensity Focus Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment delivery.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Master’s program

Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant / APRN in Connecticut

Certification or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or NBC National Board Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Advanced Providers Role Scope

We have a growth opportunity for a Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice RN (APRN) who will enjoy:

• Unique, 1:1 training with neurosurgeons
• Growth and development- Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) program including the use of High Intensity Focus Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment for movement disorders
• Both clinic and OR time (1st Assist) for cranial and spine procedures
• Working with a team of advanced practitioners with an abundance of Neurosurgery experience
• Established practice and staff who take time with their patients

Shift-FullTimefour 10-hour shifts, M-F. Hours may vary dependent upon case load. No call requirements, no weekends.
