Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond seeks a Teaching and Research Faculty member in the Department of Neurosurgery to conduct research and educate medical students, residents, and fellows. The role includes participation in clinical and translational projects and collaboration across departments.

The successful candidate will pursue extramural funding, publish scholarly work, and contribute to a diverse, inclusive academic environment within the School of Medicine.

Qualifications

• PhD degree (or equivalent) required.
• Minimum of two years of postdoctoral training.
• Commitment to diversity and civility in a university setting.
• For tenure at Assistant Professor: established research agenda with external funding potential.
• For tenure at Associate/Professor: scholarly portfolio with external funding evidence.

Responsibilities

• Teach medical students, neurosurgery residents, and fellows.
• Lead and participate in clinical and translational research projects and trials.
• Engage in service on departmental, School of Medicine, and University committees.
• Collaborate with Neurology, Pathology and Neurobiology to advance research aims.
