Job summary

Piedmont is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join a busy Neurosurgical practice at Piedmont Athens Hospital. You will take histories, perform examinations, write notes and work closely with the surgical team from pre-op to post-op care.

Responsibilities include coordinating care plans, ensuring labs and clearances, and collaborating with physicians and nurses. You will participate in weeknight, weekend and holiday call with other APPs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's in Nursing
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board

• Evaluate and treat patients to achieve optimal patient care.
• Write progress notes; prepare patient work-ups and summaries, noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
• Develop plans of care that minimize complications and troubleshoot problems.
• Complete pre-op and post-op appointments for all surgical patients, ensure labs and clearances are complete before surgery.
• Collaborate with supervising physician to ensure quality of care.
• Work with nurses to triage patient needs and with referral coordinators for scheduling.
• Rotate weeknight, weekend, and holiday call with the other APPs; take call with Physician.

• Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations and record data in patient's medical record in ambulatory practice. Clinical responsibilities require thorough attention to detail.
• Evaluate and treat patients to achieve optimal patient care.
• Write progress notes; prepare patient work-ups and summaries, noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
• Develop plans of care that minimize complications and successfully troubleshoot problems when they arise. Apply preventative and alternative treatment strategies for possible procedural complications.
• Complete pre-op and post-op appointments for all surgical patients, work with supervising Physicians to ensure all required labs, clearances and testing is satisfactorily complete well before surgery.
• Collaborate with supervising physician to ensure quality of care
• Work closely with nurses to triage patient needs and referral coordinators to ensure proper scheduling
• Rotate weeknight, weekend, and holiday call with the other APP's. Take call with Physician.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's in Nursing Required or
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board Required

Work Experience

• 1 years of Neurosurgical experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• PA - Physician Assistant Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Georgia. Updated NCCPA for PA's Upon Hire Required or
• ACNP - Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP, FNP, WHNP) Upon Hire Required
