Job summary

Piedmont Athens Regional Specialty Services is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join a busy neurosurgical practice at Piedmont Athens Hospital. The APP will take histories, perform exams, and coordinate perioperative care in a high-volume setting.

Requirements include GA APN with MSN or PA license and NCCPA; 1+ year neurosurgical experience preferred. On-call rotation with physicians and collaboration with nurses are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with GA APN license and MSN.
• Or graduate of an accredited PA program with GA license; NCCPA updated on hire.
• Neurosurgical experience is preferred (1+ years).

Responsibilities

• Take patient histories; conduct exams in ambulatory neurosurgical clinic.
• Perform pre-op/post-op assessments and coordinate labs and clearances.
• Develop care plans and troubleshoot complications with physicians.
• Collaborate with nurses and referral coordinators for scheduling.
• Rotate call nights, weekends, and holidays with APPs; participate in on-call coverage.

Overview

Piedmont Healthcare is recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider to join a very busy Neurosurgical practice at Piedmont Athens Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations and record data in patient's medical record in ambulatory practice. Clinical responsibilities require thorough attention to detail.
• Evaluate and treat patients to achieve optimal patient care.
• Write progress notes; prepare patient work-ups and summaries, noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
• Develop plans of care that minimize complications and successfully troubleshoot problems when they arise. Apply preventative and alternative treatment strategies for possible procedural complications.
• Complete pre-op and post-op appointments for all surgical patients, work with supervising Physicians to ensure all required labs, clearances and testing is satisfactorily complete well before surgery.
• Collaborate with supervising physician to ensure quality of care
• Work closely with nurses to triage patient needs and referral coordinators to ensure proper scheduling
• Rotate weeknight, weekend, and holiday call with the other APP's. Take call with Physician.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's in Nursing Required or
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board Required

Work Experience

• 1+ years of Neurosurgical experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• PA - Physician Assistant Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Georgia. Updated NCCPA for PA's Upon Hire Required or
• ACNP - Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP, FNP, WHNP) Upon Hire Required
