Job summary

UNC Health's Acute Neurosurgery and ENT Care unit in Chapel Hill is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse to provide competent nursing care for medically and surgically complex patients, including post-operative brain and spine procedures, neuro and spinal trauma, and head and neck malignancies.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the RN will participate in education, care planning, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, with self-scheduling, a minimum of one 12-hour shift every two

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina (RN).
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify learning needs and provide patient education materials.
• Evaluation of care: participate in plan of care revision with the team.
• Implementation: care for patients with complex problems and coordinate care.
• Leadership: set goals for professional growth and support unit goals.
• Patient assessment: determine priorities and discharge planning needs.
• Planning: collaborate with patient/family and multidisciplinary resources.
• Research: engage with journals and discuss applicability with staff.
