The Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will join an award-winning pediatric neurosurgery program recognized for excellent surgical outcomes and infection rates among the lowest in the nation. The Pediatric Neurosurgery APP will practice in a specialized Neurosurgery Clinic located within a leading children’s hospital. The hospital-based Pediatric Neurosurgery Clinic provides comprehensive care for conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Close collaboration with neonatology, neurology, orthopedics, rehabilitation, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, otolaryngology and oncology supports seamless multidisciplinary treatment. The Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Practitioner will provide clinic and floor coverage while supporting emergency services, the NICU, PICU and operating room.

The Neurosurgery NP/PA will report to pediatric neurosurgery leadership and collaborate with attending physicians, six advanced practice providers, friendly nurses and a diverse team of healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include inpatient rounding, admissions, discharges, emergency and inpatient consultations, outpatient evaluations, postoperative follow-ups and first-assist coverage in the operating room. The Pediatric Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant may perform ICP monitor and EVD placement, shunt taps and adjustments, lumbar punctures, fontanelle taps, suturing, stapling and intrathecal administrations within the approved scope of practice. Qualified candidates will bring at least one year of related experience, appropriate California NP or PA licensure and national certification, with pediatric, neurosurgery, clinic and bilingual experience considered valuable; rotating call includes weekday, weekend and urgent hospital coverage.
