Job description

Description

The faculty physician is responsible for the care of patients in the hospital and clinics, as well as research, educational, and advocacy initiatives as determined by the Division Chief and/or the Center leadership.

Our ideal candidate will be fellowship trained in both endovascular and pediatric neurosurgery.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Medical Doctor (M.D.) from an accredited medical school. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in the area of expertise. Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for medical care. Ability to evaluate patient problems independently and develop care plans. Ability to discuss ethical concepts with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Ability to supervise and train clinical professionals and students. Commitment to ongoing medical education and compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Required Licenses and Certifications
Fully licensed and credentialed attending staff physician at Children's National Medical Center. Board certified or eligible for certification in primary practice. (Required) Secondary specialty certification (Preferred).

  • Provide ethical, professional, and timely clinical services at Children's Hospital and other approved sites.
  • Oversee medical care teams and manage patient care, ensuring continuity and quality.
  • Participate in on-call services as determined by division leadership.
  • Engage in family-centered care with professional communication; refer patients to specialists and ancillary services as needed.
  • Use chain of command and escalation policies appropriately.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and outside providers, setting clear expectations for trainees.

  • Engage in CNMC's advocacy initiatives.
  • Contribute to public policy efforts for pediatric health and well-being.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment and prevention techniques.
  • Participate in health promotion and education programs.

  • Conduct meaningful research in clinical and translational sciences related to practice.
  • Review manuscripts and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Apply for research funding and participate in related committees and groups.

  • Participate in medical education programs and hospital-wide educational efforts.
  • Provide timely feedback and supervise trainees effectively.

  • Follow policies, procedures, and quality improvement standards.
  • Complete clinical documentation promptly and accurately.
  • Identify and suggest improvements in patient services and care protocols.
  • Participate in policy development and quality assurance activities.
