Job description

**JOB SUMMARY**

The Physician HTPN examines and treats patients with a wide range of conditions, takes patient histories, requests diagnostic tests, makes diagnoses, prescribes treatment, administers vaccinations, performs follow-up examinations, and educates patients in disease prevention and health maintenance. The Physician HTPN also supervises the clinical activities of allied health professionals and advanced practice professionals.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE**

  1. Examine, collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results.
  2. Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  3. Order, perform, and interpret tests and examine records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients' conditions.
  4. Work as part of a clinical team of technicians, advanced practice professionals, and other physicians in decision-making around tests, diagnoses, and treatment options for patients with illnesses or diseases.
  5. Monitor patient conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.

**Specialty:**

  2. May work in a hospital, specialty clinic, or outpatient surgical center.
  3. May perform surgical, treatment, or non-invasive procedures in the area of specialty.
  4. May create post-operative care plans and recommend lifestyle changes involving diet, exercise, and other matters.
  5. Supervise the clinical activities of a care team that may include other providers and allied health professionals.
