Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a full-time Day Shift Registered Nurse Manager for the Neuroscience Unit. This leadership role oversees patient care operations, ensures safety, quality outcomes, and a positive patient/family experience.
The ideal candidate has a BSN, 3+ years of RN leadership experience, and knowledge of neuro patients. MSN preferred; Epilepsy Monitoring Unit experience a plus.
Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital – Norfolk, VA
Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Shift: Days
Weekends: Every other weekend availability required

The Neuro IMCU is a blended unit focusing on all neuro patients, including stroke patients, back and neck post-surgical patients, and has one of the few Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) in the area.

Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required, graduate degree preferred.
One year of Management experience required
2 years experience in a support leadership RN position, i.e. Unit Coordinator, Team Lead, or other like position may be accepted in lieu of 1 year formal management experience.
Certification/Licensure Requirements
Registered Nurse license required
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
Experience Requirements
Three years of RN experience required
The Clinical Nurse Manager has overall accountability for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas. Supervises patient care services staff, ensures excellent patient safety and quality outcomes as well as extraordinary patient/family experience. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, developing and retaining staff with the goal of developing a highly reliable team. Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills to achieve unit and corporate goals. Assists in the development and monitoring of unit budget, coordinates purchasing and payroll processes and serves as a clinical resource to team members.
