Job summary

The University of Minnesota Herman/Darrow Lab seeks a Technical Research Assistant to join an interdisciplinary neuroscience team. You will set up and troubleshoot experimental systems, curate multimodal datasets, and support EEG, stimulation, and behavioral studies under senior staff guidance.

This hands‑on role emphasizes execution, rigorous data management, and collaboration with engineers, clinicians, and researchers to build deep expertise over time.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree with at least two years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience troubleshooting research hardware, software, or integrated technical systems.
  • Experience with scientific data files and basic programming or scripting in Python, MATLAB, or R.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow and improve SOPs.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, test, maintain, and troubleshoot electrophysiology, stimulation, behavioral, and data‑acquisition systems; verify timing, synchronization, and software settings.
  • Organize, standardize, quality‑check, document, and transfer multimodal research data; maintain metadata and data dictionaries; develop scripts and workflows.
