Job summary

The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. seeks a Research Technician in the Neurology department, ARCND - Nuber laboratory, to support technically advanced experiments and data collection under supervision.

The role includes animal handling, injections, tissue processing, and basic molecular analyses, while ensuring biosafety and protocol compliance. Strong communication and teamwork are essential; experience with rodents is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required; experience may substitute.
  • Previous research lab experience (1-2 years) required.
  • Excellent oral communication and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Experience working with rodents preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and breeds transgenic and knockout mouse lines (genotyping via Transnetyx or PCR).
  • Conducts in vivo experiments, including behavioral assays and routine mouse handling.
  • Performs euthanasia, brain extractions, and downstream molecular analyses (RNA/protein, Western blot, ELISA).
  • Perfuses mice for brain fixation and histology.
  • Supports basic cell culture activities as needed.
  • Manages laboratory operations: pipette calibration, chemical inventory, waste/drug disposal, biosafety compliance.
