Job summary

The University of Virginia's Department of Neuroscience in the School of Medicine seeks a Lab Technician to provide technical, operational, and administrative support for a neuroscience research lab focusing on brain tumors, epilepsy, and neurodegeneration.

You will assist with experiments, manage animal colony logistics, ensure compliance, training, and onboarding, and coordinate data and inventory under supervision of the Principal Investigator.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, biomedical sciences, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with laboratory research projects and pilot studies.
• Perform routine experimental procedures and learn new techniques.
• Assist researchers with data organization, record keeping, and experimental preparation.
• Support animal-based research activities following approved protocols.
• Serve as liaison between animal facility and laboratory personnel.
• Monitor and maintain mouse colony records and breeding needs.
• Coordinate genotyping submissions and related logistics.
• Maintain laboratory inventories and shared equipment.
• Ensure safety, compliance, and documentation.
