Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Neurosciences Genetic Counselor to join our multidisciplinary team in Charleston. You will provide genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary neurological disorders.

You will obtain and analyze family histories, recommend genetic testing when warranted, and counsel on test results, treatment options and coping strategies.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
• 4-6 years state licensure and/or professional certification requirement/s dependent on position.

Responsibilities

• Provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary neurological disorders.
• Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes.
• Recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods.
• Collaborates with other healthcare professionals in multidisciplinary clinics to provide optimal patient care.
