Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Patient Care Associate to assist the Clinical Nurse in patient assessment, planning and evaluation. The role includes obtaining vital signs, performing ECGs, and supporting safe patient care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, CNA or equivalent certification, and CPR. Experience in direct patient care and completion of required trainings are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; CNA or equivalent certification recommended.
  • Two years of direct patient care experience or equivalent education.
  • Must complete Patient Care Associate Competency Based Training and Practicum with age-specific competencies.
  • CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse, assists in assessment, planning and evaluation of patient needs and response to treatment.
  • Obtains and records vital signs as delegated by the RN.
  • Under supervision, performs technical duties and selected treatments including 12-lead ECG and Lead II with correct patient information entered.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to address patient and family needs with attention to diversity.
  • Communicates and interacts professionally with patients, families and staff; covers the BA desk when needed.
