Job summary

Harvard University seeks an Associate Director of Neuroscience Education to lead and advance graduate neuroscience education and trainee development programs. The role collaborates with Department of Neurobiology faculty, PiN and PiNBAC leadership, and reports to the vice chair, providing strategic and operational leadership for core and elective courses, mentorship, and educational assessment.

The position is a 1-year term with potential extension, 35 hours/week, all on-site in Cambridge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience.
• Advanced degree in neuroscience, education, or related field preferred.
• Experience developing and teaching graduate neuroscience courses.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based teaching and learning practices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Co-Course Director for the core graduate Neuroscience course.
• Refine course syllabus, learning objectives, instructional methods, and assessments.
• Incorporate evidence-based pedagogical practices and innovative approaches to graduate neuroscience education.
• Develop elective courses with PiN and PiNBAC leadership; identify and recruit subject-matter experts.
• Provide guidance on course design, instructional strategies, and assessment of student learning.
• Identify opportunities to pilot, evaluate, and scale innovations in neuroscience education.
• Teach within the graduate and professional development curricula and serve as a neuroscience resource for students.
• Develop and publish educational scholarship related to neuroscience education and trainee development.
