The Division of Neuroradiology in the Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for a faculty position as Chief of Neuroradiology. The team includes 10 fellowship-trained CAQ'd faculty, a full-time Neuroradiology procedural PA, and 5 ACGME fellows. Rank and tenure depend on qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical and operational background, along with research experience in adult and pediatric diagnostic neuroradiology, to support the department's academic missions and foster collaborations.
The UVa Health System features a renowned neuroscience staff, including neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, MR physicists, and ENT surgeons. It serves as a referral center for the Mid-Atlantic region, specializing in neurological, neuro-oncological, craniofacial, and otolaryngological care. The division offers five ACGME-accredited neurodiagnostic fellowship positions and provides imaging for the brain, spine, head, and neck. Services include advanced imaging techniques such as CT, MRI, perfusion imaging, spectroscopy, diffusion tensor imaging, and functional MRI, for both adult and pediatric patients with various neurological conditions.
The division also performs non-vascular procedures involving the spine, face, and head/neck, including CT and US-guided biopsies, fluoroscopically guided spine procedures, lumbar punctures, myelograms, blood patches, and lumbar drains.
This role includes protected academic time for scholarly activities and extramural funding. The candidate will participate in peer review, collaborate on imaging protocols, quality assurance, and compliance, and attend multidisciplinary conferences and tumor boards.
The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging comprises approximately 60 clinical faculty, 14 research faculty, 47 residents, and 23 fellows/instructors. The department emphasizes work-life balance and a collegial culture.
