Job Details

The Psychologist functions as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team. The role involves assessment and treatment of patients admitted to the Stroke Program, as well as ongoing psychotherapeutic and educational contact with those patients and their support systems. Experience in acute rehabilitation and behavioral health interventions is a plus. Preferred candidates will have experience providing education and support to treatment teams. Opportunities include speaking engagements, participation in hospital committees, and collaborative research. Other specialty programs may include SCI, Brain Injury, Amputee, and Medical Rehabilitation.

Essential Functions

• Interact effectively with co-workers, visitors, and staff, aligning with Jefferson’s values.
• Evaluate patients’ needs and behaviors using various methods, document findings in electronic medical records.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to develop and monitor treatment plans.
• Treat individuals and families for issues including anxiety, depression, addiction, social and interpersonal disorders, and adjustment to disability.
• Communicate effectively with staff, providers, patients, and community agencies.
• Pursue continuing education.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies.
• Participate in emergency procedures as outlined in the Environment of Care plans.
• Provide team leadership for discharge plan continuity.

Minimum Education and Experience

Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology from an APA-accredited university required. Experience with patients with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, amputations, strokes, orthopedic injuries, chronic pain, and workers' compensation is preferred.

Licensing

Licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
