Job summary

Mass General Brigham seeks a Clinical Neurophysiologist to read and annotate continuous EEG data in the Neurology Long Term Monitoring lab. The role includes pre-screening LTM studies, alerting clinicians to abnormal findings, and contributing to montage design and library maintenance.

You will present EEG data at daily rounds, write detailed reports, mentor technologists and fellows, and participate in quality assurance and education initiatives while upholding infection control and patient

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience required; Master’s in Neuroscience preferred.
  • 1–2 years of full-time experience reading and interpreting EEGs; clinical neurophysiology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Annotate normal and abnormal EEG findings and recognize artifacts.
  • Present EEG data and study evolution during daily rounds.
  • Write detailed reports on EEG patterns and seizure semiology; provide preliminary reports.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes and staff education.

Pre-screens LTM studies and alerts responding clinicians to abnormal findings and design montages and maintain our montage library and manage a diverse array of clinical software tools. The Clinical Neurophysiologist is also responsible for technologist and clinical fellow education related to reading and interpreting EEG data.Does this position require Patient Care? YesEssential Functions-Responsible for accurately annotating normal and abnormal EEG findings, recognizing artifacts, seizures and seizure-like EEG patterns, subtle seizures, changes in level of consciousness, and EEG patterns of prognostic significance for a variety of medical conditions.-Presents EEG/video data and study evolution in daily patient rounds to staff physician/epileptologist, describing current seizures, their frequency, duration and interictal findings.-Independently writes detailed description of EEG patterns, clinical behavior, seizure semiology, and provides preliminary report to epileptologist/Neurologists and other medical staff.-Under appropriate supervision, the reader technologist writes reports including pertinent results of previous investigations, current EEG patterns, seizure semiology, mapping results, updated classification, impression of ictal and interictal abnormalities.-Participates in quality and continuing education initiatives.
