Position Overview

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Vascular Neurologist with specialized training or clinical experience in acute stroke management and vascular neurology to join our Neurology Service at James A. Haley VA Medical Center. This role offers the opportunity to serve Veterans while working within a multidisciplinary team in a state-of-the-art facility.

Practice Highlights

The Neurology Department at James A. Haley is a dynamic team providing high-quality stroke care through a Primary Stroke Center. The department collaborates with Emergency Medicine, Radiology, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Services to deliver evidence-based care. The team is involved in research and quality improvement initiatives to optimize stroke outcomes.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke cases, including eligibility assessment for thrombolytic and endovascular therapy.
  2. Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary stroke team.
  3. Support quality improvement initiatives, such as reducing door-to-needle times and enhancing telestroke workflows.
  4. Interpret advanced neuroimaging related to stroke diagnosis and treatment.
  5. Contribute to stroke certification processes.
  6. Mentor residents, fellows, and medical students.
  7. Participate in clinical research and scholarly activities.
  8. Support department leadership and program development.
Preferred Qualifications

Board certification in Neurology with fellowship training in Vascular Neurology or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2–5 years managing acute stroke in a high-volume stroke center.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $350,000 - $375,000.
