Job description

Overview

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist II has passed the examination and obtained the credential appropriate to the modality of practice, which may include EEG/Electroencephalography (R. EEG. T.), Evoke Potentials (R. EP. T.), or NCS/Nerve Conduction Studies (R. NCS. T.). The Technologist performs procedures according to ASET standards, hospital policies, and procedures. They provide findings, results, and descriptive analysis according to their modality of practice and ensure patient safety during clinically significant events. Additional related duties may be performed. Strong communication skills are essential for this position.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  1. Perform EEG or NCS testing with responsibility and accountability, ensuring timely and accurate procedures.
  2. Prepare patients for testing by attaching monitoring devices and explaining procedures clearly.
  3. Record observations, collect and document data appropriately in acquisition systems and EPIC. Clip EEG acquisitions based on manufacturer standards and provider preferences. Assist with EMG and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) as needed.
  4. Maintain and clean lab equipment; ensure the testing room is clean per hospital and manufacturer guidelines.
  5. Complete daily office/clerical procedures, including supplies, charges, and repairs. Submit requisitions as necessary.
  6. Perform daily/monthly quality checks and assist with staff training. Collaborate with team members to improve outcomes.
  7. Keep all equipment in good working condition; report repairs to Biomedical Engineering and management following department policies.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Provide age-appropriate services to patients across all age groups served by the Neurodiagnostic department. Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Assess and interpret patient data to identify specific needs and tailor services accordingly. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Possess knowledge of equipment operation and correct lead placement techniques.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Allied Health preferred.
  • Accredited Neurodiagnostic Program required.
  • 1.5 years of experience in the health/medical field preferred.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • BLS certification required.
  • Certification in EEG/Electroencephalography (R. EEG. T.), Evoke Potentials (R. EP. T.), or NCS/Nerve Conduction Studies (R. NCS. T.) as applicable.
